Woven palm mats

A series of paintings on handwoven palm mats (petates). Serpent-being (Ser-Cóatl) is derived from the Spanish ser, which means “being” and cóatl, which means serpent in Náhuatl. Evocations of the snake goddess were of as much significance in Mesoamerica as they were in Neolithic Europe.
